Laurie Hernandez, 42, has been making waves on a new ABC show called The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. But when real-life circumstances came up and she sought to take legal action against her ex-husband, things quickly got bizarre.
We recently sat down with the estranged Mrs. Hernandez to discuss her divorce, her new marriage to a fellow Bravo star (and friend), and her real-life legal battle against the man who cheated on her … and who she believes has brainwashed her into believing he is the love of her life.
How did your relationship with Robert Kardashian begin?
I met Robert through my mother who was a close friend of his late father, Robert Kardashian Sr. Robert was my first real boyfriend and we dated for several years. Our relationship lasted until my mother died from cancer in 1998. I was very close to my mother and loved her very dearly. As a result, Robert and I were very close friends for many years. We even went to the same doctors when she had her cancer operation. I had a lot of close friendships and I had a lot of fun while I was with Robert. We were in love but we had several problems that seemed to only grow and build. We always talked about marriage. I said to him I knew he was going to change and I knew he wanted to be with me forever, but he wasn’t ready and it wasn’t going to work. He said that he wanted forever and then he broke up with me. I was heartbroken.
You’ve since filed for divorce. What is driving you to take legal action?
I was doing several movies and my husband was very supportive and tried to help me get on my career path and take me out of that situation, but I wasn’t ready to be a wife and a legal wife. I tried for years to figure out how to have an independent life. I wanted to live as an actress and get out of being a wife of a failed actor. This is how my situation started going wrong.
